Vicinity Motors has announced the promotion of Brent Phillips to the role of President, bringing over 30 years of commercial transportation experience to lead the company's electric vehicle initiatives. Phillips previously served as General Manager at Alliance Bus Group and Vice President of Sales, Commercial Bus Group at REV Group, where he oversaw multiple brands and distribution channels across two manufacturing facilities.
In his new position, Phillips will spearhead sales, assembly, procurement, and engineering teams while providing strategic direction for the company's sales and operations programs. A key priority will be ensuring fleets have access to Canada's only purpose-built, fully-electric work truck through the VMC 1200 Dealer network. This initiative represents a significant step in advancing electric transportation solutions for commercial applications across North America.
Phillips will also focus on providing comprehensive support for vehicle sales and service through the dealer network while launching a strategic network of VMC 1200 Dealers across the United States. The expansion into the U.S. market marks a crucial development for Vicinity Motors as it seeks to capitalize on growing demand for electric commercial vehicles. Additionally, his strategic focus includes bringing production of the Vicinity Lightning electric bus to Ferndale, WA, enhancing the company's manufacturing footprint and production capabilities.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the electric vehicle industry, with increasing emphasis on sustainable transportation solutions. Phillips's extensive background in distribution and manufacturing positions him to effectively lead Vicinity Motors through its next phase of growth and innovation. His leadership is expected to strengthen the company's position in the competitive electric vehicle market while expanding access to electric transportation options for commercial fleets and municipalities.
With Phillips assuming the presidency, Vicinity Motors aims to enhance its existing VMC 1200 Dealer network across Canada while pursuing strategic expansion opportunities. The company's focus on electric work trucks and buses addresses the growing need for zero-emission commercial vehicles in both Canadian and American markets. This leadership transition signals Vicinity Motors' commitment to accelerating the adoption of electric transportation solutions through strengthened dealer networks and expanded production capabilities.
