Greg Scott and his daughter Hali have completed an extraordinary skiing adventure across Alberta, becoming the first individuals to ski all 39 lift-serviced ski areas in the province within a single winter season. The ambitious journey, named the Skadi Tour after the Norse mythology goddess of snow and skiing, involved traveling 8,300 kilometres across Alberta's diverse landscape. Their route included ski areas from the Cypress Hills in the southeast to Vista Ridge in Fort McMurray and Blue Ridge Mountain Resort in La Crete.
The tour builds upon their previous achievement in British Columbia, where they skied 44 ski areas in 42 days. Their motivation stems from their work with the Tidbits of Change Foundation, an organization dedicated to encouraging youth and parent/mentor collaborations. Throughout their journey, the Scotts have generated significant social media engagement, with nearly two million interactions on Instagram. Their unique storytelling approach, including segments like "Chairlift Chatter" featuring local ski legends, has captured public attention and highlighted community ski culture.
The tour was supported by sponsors including HEAD skis, Kal-Tire, Descente, Sundance Ski & Snowboard Shop, and Hummingbird Micro Homes. HEAD and Kal-Tire have also contributed additional youth bursaries to the foundation's efforts. Their final destination, Mt. Norquay Ski Resort in the Banff area, marks the culmination of their provincial-wide ski tour, symbolizing not just a physical journey but a testament to collaborative spirit and community engagement.
