Energy Fuels has achieved record uranium production at its Pinyon Plain mine in Arizona, marking a significant milestone in domestic uranium extraction. In April, the company mined 4,604 tons of ore containing approximately 151,400 pounds of uranium at an impressive average grade of 1.64% eU₃O₈. The monthly production represents the highest output since mining operations began at the site.
CEO Mark Chalmers highlighted the potential implications of these results, suggesting they could lead to increased reserves, lower operational costs, and position Pinyon Plain as the premier uranium mine in the United States. This development comes at a critical time when the United States is seeking to strengthen its domestic supply of nuclear fuel materials for energy security and carbon-free power generation.
Complementing the production achievements, Energy Fuels also released promising drill results from the Juniper Zone, which demonstrated uranium intercepts as high as 20.11% eU₃O₈. These findings indicate the potential for significant mineral resource expansion and enhanced economic viability of the mining operation. The company operates the White Mesa Mill in Utah, which serves as the only fully licensed conventional uranium processing facility in the country according to information available at https://energyfuels.com.
Beyond uranium production, Energy Fuels maintains a diverse portfolio that includes rare earth element production, vanadium oxide processing, and exploration of medical isotope recovery for emerging cancer treatments. The company's strategic approach extends to international heavy mineral sands projects, including operations in Kenya and development projects in Madagascar, Brazil, and Australia. This diversified business model positions Energy Fuels as a versatile minerals company committed to supporting carbon-free energy solutions and critical mineral supply chains essential for various high-tech and energy applications.
